The 2015 Hyundai Genesis and 2015 Sonata have been named to the short list for the 2015 North American Car of the Year, one of the most prestigious automotive awards in the industry. Hyundai is the only brand with two vehicles on the list of ten.
“In a world bursting with terrific new cars, it’s easy to become a little myopic, and lose sight of extraordinary achievement. Hyundai makes an excellent example,” said Tony Swan, North American Car of the Year juror in the Hyundai press release. “In 2009, Hyundai challenged the luxury sedan establishment with its new Genesis, and collected the North American Car of the Year award. In 2011, the Hyundai Sonata was a finalist for the award. In 2012, the Hyundai Elantra took top honors again. And this year two Hyundais—Genesis and Sonata, both completely redesigned for 2015—are on the list of 10 North American Car of the Year semifinalists, selected from an original list of 29 cars. Not bad for a company that didn’t even exist until 1967.”
Later on in the year the finalists will be narrowed down to three, and later, the 2015 North American Car of the Year will be announced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, which is being held Jan. 12-25, 2015.

Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell Acknowledged at Climate Resolve's Annual Gala
The Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell was recognized at the annual gala for Climate Reserve, a nonprofit that is dedicated to meeting the challenges of climate change, according to the Hyundai press release. The Tucson Fuel Cell was given recognition for being the first mass-produced fuel cell vehicle in the United States, providing a means of transportation that is both sustainable, and with zero emission.
"Zero-emission vehicles play a major role in meeting America's sustainable energy goals," said Climate Resolve Founder and Executive Director Jonathan Parfrey in the Hyundai press release. "By making the Tucson Fuel Cell available to everyday consumers, Hyundai is taking the first steps in finding a long-term solution to energy independence, clean air and the availability of zero-emission vehicles."
We're excited to hear that the Tucson Fuel Cell is getting recognition by those who are dedicated to working on the environment. It's not yet available in Vermont (only in California for the time being), but if you'd like more information, check out our Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell info page here.

100% of Burlington's Power is Now Renewable
Burlington, Vt. now gets 100 percent of its electricity from renewable sources, including wind, water and biomass. For those who aren't familiar with the initiative, this is part of a movement that aims to power 90 percent of Vermont with renewable energy by 2050, which would include heating, electricity and transportation.
"It shows that we're able to do it, and we're able to do it cost effectively in a way that makes Vermonters really positioned well for the future," said Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Public Service Christopher Recchia in a Boston Globe press release.
Vermont is at the forefront of this initiative, showing other cities around the country that this is possible and attainable; many other cities are working towards 100 percent as well. We love seeing our city making headlines around the country for its efforts in being environmentally and socially aware!
Hyundai is also a fan of utilizing renewable resources, making the first-ever fuel cell-powered vehicle. Learn more about the Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell here.

Hyundai Hope on Wheels
What started in 1998 as a grass-roots effort to raise money for a local New England pediatric cancer institute has grown into a powerful nation-wide charity called Hope on Wheels. Each time a new Hyundai is sold, a donation is made to help kids fight cancer. With over 800 dealerships, those numbers add up quickly. In fact, we're so committed to helping kids fight cancer that we won't stop until we find a cure.
Help us find a cure for childhood cancer.
Hope On Wheels focuses its fundraising primarily on children's hospitals around the United States and those hospitals' research on pediatric cancer, as well as building awareness about the importance of the cause. To date, Hyundai Hope on Wheels has raised over $74 million in fundraising efforts over the last 16 years, and will continue with this program in the hopes that someday there will be a cure for childhood cancer.
