Peaches with Balsamic Cherries & Loosen Dr. L Riesling
A perfect pair; Riesling and fresh summer fruits. In honor of the approaching Burlington Wine & Food Festival, we'd like to set up one of their featured wines with a recipe we thoroughly enjoy. The Loosen Dr. L Riesling is an elegant white, with apple and peach notes that are backed by lively acidity. We thought what better to pair a nice Riesling than with some summer fruits subtly noted in the wine itself? Check out the recipe below, and if you'd like to see more of Dr. Ernst Loosen of Loosen Brothers Winery, head to his seminar, "The Rocky Horror Riesling Show" at this year's Burlington Wine & Food Festival!
Peaches with Balsamic Cherries
(Recipe & image via The Food Network)
Serves 4
1/2 pound cherries, halved and pitted
2 tablespoons sugar, plus more to taste
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 pound peaches, sliced
In a small saucepan, stir together cherries, sugar and balsamic and place over medium heat. Bring to a boil and continue cooking for five minutes, giving it an occasional stir. After the five minutes, toss the warm cherries and syrup in a medium bowl with the sliced peaches, and add more sugar if you'd like to taste. Serve and enjoy!
