Hyundai Receives Best Word-of-Mouth Recommendation

The Boston Consulting group discovered a way to measure word-of-mouth power amongst several industries using their Brand Advocacy Index; a study that measures individual industry's performance from person to person. For the study, 32,000 individuals were surveyed and the top 55 brands were listed. In the automotive industry Hyundai, Honda and Kia tied for first place for best word-of-mouth recommendation, all tied at 63 percent.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Gets All-New Blue Link

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis will be premiering Hyundai's next-generation Blue Link system at PepCom's Digital Experience, before it even hits the 2014 North American International Auto Show. The event will be held on Monday, Jan 6, 2014 before the show from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

The Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Receive ALG Highest Residual Value Awards

This electric green 2013 Accent is right in our showroom!

A subsidiary of TrueCar, Inc., ALG just released the winners of their 14th annual Residual Value Awards. The Santa Fe Sport took first place in the midsize utility vehicle segment for the second year in a row, while the Hyundai Accent took first in the subcompact category.

ALG's Residual Value Awards honor vehicles that are expected to keep the highest residual value percentage of their original MSRP after a typical three-year ownership. The winners are chosen based off of a combination of segment competition, historical vehicle performance and industry trends, according to Hyundai's press release.

Hyundai Santa Fe Named Compact SUV/Crossover of the Year by AutoJudge

At this year's Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe was named the "Compact SUV/Crossover of the Year" by the AutoJudge Awards! The AutoJudge Awards were previously known as the Readers Choice, and are decided by a group of automotive journalists and their readers.

The 2014 Santa Fe sees an addition of safety features this model year, such as Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and rear parking assistance. There are also a number of premium features, including new 18-inch wheels, HID headlights and ventilated front seats.

Pricing for the 2014 Hyundai Sonata is Announced

2014 Hyundai Sonata Gets New Features and Pricing

The 2014 Hyundai Sonata will have an MSRP of $21,350, while the Limited Turbo version will start at $28,650. Along with a slight price change, the Sonata is getting a slew of added features.

The new standard features include:

• An updated grille
• HID headlights
• LED taillights
• Driver Selectable Steering Mode (DSSM)
• Vehicle Stability Management (VSM)
• Tire Pressure Monitoring System that is specific to the tire

On the SE and Limited models:

• Rearview camera
• Blind spot mirror

• Color audio screens
• HD radio

Enhanced 2014 Hyundai Tucson Pricing Announced

Pricing for the 2014 Hyundai Tucson will start at $21,450
with some enhancements:

The 2014 Tucson now has 17 and 18-inch alloy wheels (depending on the trim level), and projector-beam halogen headlamps in the front. There are two new interior colors available in beige or brown, and there is an enhanced touch-screen navigation system.

The base price of the Tucson is extremely competitive at just $21,450, with the AWD Limited version starting at $27,700. The 2014 Tucson is arriving at dealerships this fall, so stay tuned for more info! In the meantime, check out our 2013 Tucson showroom page here!

Hyundai Assurance Adds Dimension with Federal Employee Payment Deferral Plan

Hyundai announced yesterday that it will be adding another dimension to its Assurance program by launching a new payment deferral program that will help federal employees furloughed during the government shutdown. Hyundai is extending all auto loan and lease payments in the midst of the shutdown for current Hyundai owners who are furloughed.

Current owners will be given relief to the entire duration that they're out of work -- furloughed employees who wish to buy a car in October will also be offered a 90-day payment deferral.

"We recognize the impact on family budgets that the furlough will drive," said President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America John Krafcik in the Hyundai press release. "Like we did almost four years ago when we launched  Hyundai Assurance, this is our way of saying 'we've got your back' during this uncertain time."

Hyundai Helps Colorado Flood Victims Replace Damaged Vehicles

Hyundai announced last week that they will be offering disaster relief credit to those whose cars were damaged in the recent Colorado floods. They will be providing a $750 credit towards the purchase of a new Hyundai vehicle. This program will run from Sept. 18 - Oct. 31, 2013.

In the past, Hyundai has offered similar support to victims of natural disasters; they have provided over $3.1 million in credits to victims of Hurricane Katrina, the Mid-Tennessee floods, the Oklahoma tornadoes and Hurricane Sandy.

Hyundai Sells its One Millionth Santa Fe

The Hyundai Santa Fe is the fastest growing compact SUV

Hyundai's first SUV, the Santa Fe has reached its millionth sale in the United States since its introduction in September 2000. Before Hyundai released the Santa Fe, they were known primarily for selling inexpensive, compact cars. The Santa Fe revamped the brand, as well as gained a completely new group of car buyers.

"Entering the market with distinctive design, great equipment and backed by industry leading quality, Santa Fe soon became one of the best-selling crossovers in the industry," according to the Hyundai press release.

The Hyundai Santa Fe is an award-winning crossover that is made today in West Point, Georgia. Hyundai App Lets You Build Your Own Apocolypse Car

In case you missed our last post about Hyundai's Zombie-Fighting Veloster, Hyundai brought a concept Veloster to Comic Con this year that was fully-equipped with weapons and zombie-killing properties in case, of course, there was a zombie takeover.

Now, you can build your own apocalypse car right on your phone! There's a mobile app as well as a desktop version where you can choose between one of three Hyundai vehicles to configure; the Veloster Turbo, Santa Fe and Elantra. They all have different strengths so you must choose which one is best for you!

Next you can choose color, decals and almost 300 varying zombie-fighting details. Once you've finished, the app will tell you what your chance of survival is with the vehicle you've designed.

Hyundai Hope on Wheels Announces New Donations of $10.25 Million During September in Lieu of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Hyundai Hope on Wheels just launched an initiative to thank Hyundai owners for their help in donating over $72 million for pediatric cancer over the last 15 years of the program. During the month of September, Hyundai Hope on Wheels will donate $10.25 million to pediatric cancer research in the U.S., which is part of their annual September program that recognizes National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. There will also be a social media initiative in the hopes of thanking all Hyundai owners whose purchases contribute to Hope on Wheels.

"Hope on Wheels is our fight to end pediatric caner and is at the soul of our work at Hyundai. With each car we sell, we make a contribution with our dealers to end this disease," said President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America John Krafcik in the Hyundai press release. "We've now raised over $72 million dollars, and ask everyone to join us this September on Facebook to raise awareness about this cause."

Market Probe, a global marketing research firm rated Hyundai Motor America No. 1 in customer advocacy in their 2013 Customer Advocacy Monitor. This is a national consumer survey of 6,000 households, which evaluates customer advocacy in six major industry areas; auto-manufacturers, banks, investment companies, credit card companies, casual dining chains and major retailers, according to Hyundai's press release. The survey asks customers to think about and evaluate their recent customer experiences and rate their impact on Satisfaction, Net Promoter Score and Advocacy.

Our Hyundai Service Manager Kate Poole is a woman of many hobbies; she loves snowboarding, salt water fishing, cooking, hiking (especially with her dog, Moose!), playing softball and watching football. Of course, Kate loves servicing cars! “I like the constant learning from an always-changing industry. It seems almost every day I find out something new about how to fix a car, whether it be new or old,” she says.

Patti Bowdy, our Hyundai Service Advisor was born in Tampa, Fla., but moved to Vermont in ’97. She’s always been a car enthusiast, spending lots of her free time enjoying car shows in the summer. Patti has two puppies, and will soon be (if not already!) a new mom to a baby boy

A Connecticut native, Sheryl enjoys snowboarding and loves dirt bikes; hers is her favorite possession! A vegetarian, Sheryl’s favorite food is mac n’ cheese and she loves a good meal either at home or at the Windjammer. If she could travel anywhere in the world it would be to Europe, but for now she’s happy at her favorite Vermont destination, Mount Mansfield. 2013 Hyundai Elantra Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently awarded the 2013 Hyundai Elantra with an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ accolade; their highest safety rating. The Elantra was only one of six small cars to receive the honor! Other awarded Hyundai vehicles were the 2013 Sonata, Azera, Equus, Genesis, Tucson and Santa Fe, which all earned IIHS's Top Safety Pick.

The 2013 Elantra has six airbags, a state-of-the-art braking package (which has Brake Assist, technology that provides maximum braking force when a panic stop is detected).

"To keep drivers as safe as possible, Elantra, the 2012 North American Car of the Year, has a suite of active and passive safety features. Its Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system optimally manages the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and the Motor-Driven electric Power Steering (MDPS) to help maintain vehicle control," wrote Hyundai in the press release.

Hyundai Shows Walking Dead-Themed Veloster at Comic-Con

Veloster is Zombie Survival Machine!

The Walking Dead and Hyundai have been marketing partners for the last two seasons, so for this year's Comic-Con Hyundai put together a Zombie Survival Machine based on a Veloster Turbo. Hyundai brought one that was based off of an Elantra Coupe to last year's event.

Included on the Survival Machine is a sawblade grille, firearms and chainsaws, including a .50-caliber machine gun that's mounted on the roof, as well as two assault rifles on the hood. Every door has blades and is fully equipped with a machine gun (usually we're writing about front dual-zone air conditioning or alloy wheels!).

"Based on a Hyundai Veloster Turbo and built by Galpin Auto Sports to decapitate as many Walkers as possible, this four-door hatch has been heavily modified. The headlights, taillights and windows are all protected with a combination of wrought iron and chainlink fencing. There's also plenty of armor on the body panels," according to Autoblog's article on the vehicle.

Unfortunately we don't have that version in stock, but fortunately that also means that there hasn't been a zombie apocalypse! Until then, check out our 2013 Veloster Hatchback inventory here!

It's getting really hot out there in Burlington, especially this week! Read up on these six heat-fighting foods that will help cool you off this summer.

1. Cucumbers.
Since they're mostly made up of water, eating one is like taking a sip. It also helps reduce swelling and bloating!

2. Mint
The cooling fresh mint flavor on your tongue will help you battle the hot temps; add it to any of your favorite drinks for added flavor!

3. Radishes
Full of vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants, radishes have great anti-inflammatory properties. Like the cucumber, they're made up almost entirely of water.

4. Fruits
Tangy and refreshing; eat alone or add to an icy smoothie!

5. Watermelon
Another water-filled treat, watermelons are 90 percent water and also help replenish electrolytes lost when you sweat.

6. Grapefruit
Citrus fruits are some of the best for cooling, and also contain enzymes that help with digestion.
