According to a report released yesterday by the Union of Concerned Scientists, Hyundai has "dethroned" Honda as the greenest automaker in the United States. Hyundai was ranked first after the nonprofit did its sixth evaluation of the eight top-selling automakers; this is the first time Honda was not No. 1 since the publication's introduction in 2000.

This study specifically measured the average carbon and smog-producing emissions of all six automaker's 2013 model lineup. This year, global-warming emissions fell for all eight automakers for the first time since the study began.

We're thrilled about this news, and we're even more excited to see how Hyundai ranks after its 2015 Tucson Fuel Cell is introduced to the mix.
